In an unprecedented initiative of Past Grand Chancellor (PGC) Joel “JTV” Villanueva through the leadership of incumbent Grand Chancellor (GC) Paolo Brillantes, members of the Tau Kappa Phi Law Fraternity gathered together in an event dubbed as “GeTAUgether” held on May 23, 2015 at the Queen Aurora’s Garden Resort in Cabuyao, Laguna. The brethren came by convoys and batches around 9:30 am. Breakfast was served while waiting for the others to come.
Thereafter, a simple program followed and opened with a prayer by brod Lobanz Lopez. The choral singing of the Tau Kappa Phi Hymn came next.
GC Paolo gave a message welcoming and thanking everybody for making the affair successful. Some words of inspiration were shared by brod Atty. Flomy Diza, a US immigration lawyer, who recently arrived from USA.

Afterwards, they engaged themselves in a game of charades that was named as “Tau Henyo,” which follows the format of Eat Bulaga’s “Pinoy Henyo.” There were a lot of fun and laughters during the game. The team of PGC Samuel Divina and PGC Nicholas Alvin Duron got the top spot.

For the serious matter, the body suggested for the appointment of an Over-all Chairman as the alumnus counterpart of the incumbent Grand Chancellor to assist the resident brothers in all of the fraternities concerns and activities such as the creation of a Bar Ops Committee, Recruitment Committee, Sports Commissioner, Fund Raising and others.

Brod Edinburgh “Dong” Tumuran recommended Brod Ruel Canobas, former Commissioner of the National Telecommunications Commission, to be the OIC Chairman because of his experience, moral ascendancy, conviction and for being an active alumnus.

Brod Banz Lopez nominated GC Joel Villanueva but the latter declined explaining that he do not have the moral ascendancy as compared to Comm. Ruel as well as the ‘Resources’ to spearhead the series of meetings/fellowships. Most of all, he is known after all as the “alter ego” of Brod Ruel. With no other nominees, Brod Sonny Romuar moved for the closure of the nomination/recommendation duly seconded by all brothers present.

Thus, Brod Comm. Ruel Canobas will now be officially known as OIC Alumni Chairman Coordinator. He is given a free hand to select his own group to assist him in the planning, information dissemination, and other leg works that are needed to carry out the mandate of his position.
